After spending the 2024 NFL season with Russell Wilson under center, the Pittsburgh Steelers face a big decision at quarterback this offseason. Aaron Rodgers appears to be their priority target, but head coach Mike Tomlin and other important people on the team have reportedly met another candidate.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Alabama Crimson Tide product Jalen Milroe had dinner in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday night with Tomlin, Steelers general manager Omar Khan and quarterbacks coach Tom Arth.
This meeting came the night before Milroeâs Pro Day at Alabama, where Tomlin was seen chatting with Kalen DeBoer, who coached the quarterback on the Crimson Tide during the 2024 NCAAF season.
Holders of the 21st overall pick, the 2025 NFL Draft could be an alternative route for Tomlin and company to add at quarterback, with Rodgers and Wilsonâs futures still uncertain.

In the event they decide to use their first-round pick on a young quarterback, Milroe could be a name to watch. With Tomlin and the Steelers in attendance, the quarterback ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at Alabamaâs Pro Day.

The 22-year-old declared for the 2025 NFL Draft after four years in college, where he went 21-6 in 27 starts, completing 64.3 of his passes for 6,016 yards, with 45 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
However, Milroe showed during his time at Alabama how dangerous he can be with his feet, racking up 1,577 rushing yards, averaging 4.2 yards per carry for a total of 33 rushing touchdowns.
Tomlin faces changes on Steelers QB room for 2025
Milroeâs ability as a dual-threat quarterback could be interesting for the Steelers after losing Justin Fields to the New York Jets. Though Tomlin mostly used Wilson in 2024, Fields gave the team something different when it needed to run the ball.
Of course, itâs still a bit soon to tell what will happen. The Steelers are waiting for Rodgers, whose only real option besides Pittsburgh appears to be the New York Giantsâwho are also linked with Wilson.
If nothing materializes before the Draft, then Milroe could be a serious candidate. In the meantime, the Steelers have already brought back a familiar face in Mason Rudolph. This move allowed Tomlin to secure an experienced player in the QB room, which might be useful if the team ultimately drafts a young prospect.
