NFL News: Vikings send clear message to J.J. McCarthy amid rumors of Aaron Rodgers choosing Minnesota as next team

As rumors swirl about Aaron Rodgers potentially choosing the Minnesota Vikings as his next destination, the team is making one thing clear: J.J. McCarthy is their future. Despite the high-profile speculation, the Vikings have sent a strong and confident message to their young quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers is supposedly waiting for the Minnesota Vikings to regret naming J.J. McCarthy as their starting quarterback. In response to this scenario, within a report by Albert Breer, head coach Kevin O’Connell sent a message of absolute confidence in his young quarterback amid the rumors.

“I’m excited to see him get that opportunity to pick up where he left off and be accelerated, just because of the mental growth that he’s been able to have within our offense, and the verbiage and how we talk about plays. So, it’s just a matter of continuing to progress, knowing we feel good about the football team we’ve put together. We’ve got the goal of surrounding the quarterback with the best possible team we can, both offensively and defensively. We feel really good about what that looks like.”

This means that, at least heading into training camp and preseason, the Vikings believe McCarthy is the missing piece to win the Super Bowl. The bar was set very high last year, as Sam Darnold won 14 regular season games.

Have the Vikings ever won a Super Bowl?

No. The Minnesota Vikings have never won the Super Bowl and, in a remarkable stat, they have lost the title game four times (Super Bowl IV, Super Bowl VIII, Super Bowl IX, and Super Bowl XI).

Now, their roster is one of the best in the NFL with names like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Aaron Jones. In addition, the defense showed a lot of improvement under the leadership of coordinator Brian Flores.

For that reason, many reports indicate that Aaron Rodgers is not accepting the offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers, thinking that, at the last minute, the Vikings might call him, giving him a chance to become a champion before retirement.
