Everything’s set for the 2021 MLS All-Star Game, where the best players of Liga MX and Major Soccer League will be competing for the first time. However, despite being called in to play, Chicharito Hernandez finally won’t be in the match, which will be played on August, 25.

Fans have waited a long time for this match, but there are names that have pulled out the big game. LAFC forward Carlos Vela won’t be playing due to an injury, while New England’s Tajon Buchanan and Carles Gil also won’t be on the pitch on Wednesday.

Chicharito Hernandez was voted in to play for the All-Star MLS team by fans, players and media. The Mexican has been one of the most prolific players of the first part of the season, so it will be a shame not to see him in action against the Liga MX team. Here, check out why Hernandez won’t take part in the match.

2021 MLS All-Star Game: Why isn’t Chicharito Hernandez playing?

Hernández hasn’t played in the MLS since June, more than half the Galaxy’s MLS season, after straining his right calf. The Mexican suffered the same injury last season and kept him out of the tournament for two months.

Mexico’s all-time leading scorer with 52 international goals was leading the league with 10 goals after his last game in June. It has been reported that MLS has named Inter Miami midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro and Atlanta United defender George Bello as replacements.

MLS has required players who miss the All-Star Game to be out of their next club game. If this is the case this year, Hernández and Vela won’t be available for the match between Galaxy and LAFC on Saturday at Banc of California.
