James Rodriguez could be on his way out of Premier League side Everton due to the club’s issues with financial fair play. It has also been reported that the Colombian was not happy that Carlo Ancelotti left the club to return to Real Madrid, as he was one of the main reasons why he chose to play for Everton.

The Colombian only showed glimpses of his best self at Everton as injuries sidelined him for large chunks of the season, still, the midfielder was able to score 6 goals in 23 games. It has been reported in the Daily Mail that his agent has offered James Rodriguez to various clubs in Europe.

If Rodriguez were to leave, Everton would clear up his large wage and receive a transfer fee. Rodriguez on the other hand would try to reestablish his career at a top club, after a rather disappointing spell with Everton. Here are the possible destinations for James Rodriguez.

James Rodriguez has always been looked upon favorably by AC Milan in the past. With the recent transfer of Hakan Calhanoglu, Milan are in search of a playmaker and the Colombian fits the bill as the Italian club looks to make a serious run for Serie A this season.

Napoli could be another Italian destination for Rodriguez and would almost automatically fight for a starting position. If AC Milan does not materialize, then a move to Naples could be in the cards for the midfielder.

Diego Simeone is no stranger when it comes to revitalizing the careers of world class talents. Simeone is very familiar with Rodriguez as he saw his development in Argentina and later while coaching in Spain. With Luis Suarez, João Félix, and Ángel Correa, James could jump right in and contribute.

It looks farfetched that James Rodriguez would return to Real Madrid, but with the recent return of Carlo Ancelotti, it could happen. Although Ancelotti saw the setbacks he had at Everton, would he take that gamble again?

Major League Soccer has long been a rumored possible destination for the Colombian. Apparently, he is on the list of A list players the league would like to entertain having. While no team has ever really flat out come out and gone after him, Rodriguez could be a major name for clubs in need of star power, the New York Red Bulls comes to mind.
