In 2005, Mascherano signed with Corinthians in Brazil, where he won the Brazilian Championship that same year. His outstanding performance opened the doors to the Premier League, joining West Ham United in 2006.

Although his time at the English club was brief and with limited opportunities, this move was crucial for his arrival at one of England’s biggest teams: Liverpool, which he joined in 2007.
