Now, as Inter Miami prepares to resume MLS competition, Mascherano discussed Messi’s likelihood of playing in the upcoming match against the Philadelphia Union. Messi participated in Friday’s team training session, raising hopes for his return to action.
“Leo is doing well. If everything goes smoothly, he will surely be in the squad,” Mascherano told reporters before Friday’s practice. “Sometimes we have to hold him back to ensure he doesn’t take risks, but he knows his body very well,” the coach explained.
The Argentine coach also revealed the captain’s steady progress during training sessions. “He’s been training progressively and has now joined several sessions with the team. Today, God willing, he’ll complete the full training session,” Mascherano added.
