On Thursday, the official draw for Roland Garros 2025 was revealed, and all eyes were on Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz—two of the most prominent players in the game and the leading contenders for the season’s second Grand Slam in Paris.

Sinner, currently ranked World No. 1, enters the French Open as the top seed. He headlines the upper half of the tournament draw and will open his campaign on the morning of Sunday, May 25, against Arthur Rinderknech, the current World No. 72, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 42 in October 2022. The two have faced each other three times, with the Italian star winning twice and the Frenchman once.

Alcaraz, meanwhile, is the No. 2 seed in Paris and will also begin his tournament on Sunday morning, squaring off against Kei Nishikori. The Japanese veteran once climbed as high as World No. 4 a decade ago and still poses a serious threat to the young Spaniard, despite now holding the No. 62 spot in the ATP Rankings at age 35. This will be their first-ever meeting.

Given the draw, tennis fans will have to be patient if they hope to see a Sinner vs. Alcaraz showdown at Roland Garros. With each player placed on opposite ends of the bracket, the only possible meeting between them would be in the final, scheduled for Sunday, June 8.
