De’Aaron Fox did not mince words regarding the NBA All-Star game, following the announcement that the NBA and the NBAPA are green lighting the game to take place in March. In an interview conducted by the Athletics’ Jason Jones, Fox did not hold back at all stating: “I’m going to be brutally honest; I think it’s stupid. If we have to wear masks and do all this for a regular game, what’s the point of bringing the All-Star Game back?” The NBA is looking for a way to not only have an All-Star game, but also conduct an NBA All-Star weekend with a strict protocol due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fox believes that an All-Star game would be counterproductive due to the issues that have arisen this season due to the pandemic with various games having to be postponed.

Fox also shed some light on players who refuse to partake in the game, he stated “You know you get fined if you’re supposed to be in it and you’re not hurt and decide not to play? That’s a hefty fine so hell yeah I would play in it. I hope I don’t fined for staying that. S***.”

Fox himself is having an all-star season, he has scored an average of 22.3 points per game with 3.3 rebounds, and 6.6 assists. The Kings on the other hand are in eleventh place in the West with a 10-11 record.

Fox opened up during the interview as he stated that economics are behind the league’s intent to play the All-Star game, he went on to say, “money makes the world go round so it is what it is. I’m not really worried about, if I’m voted in, so be it.”

The NBA All-Star game is scheduled to take place on March 6th in Atlanta, according to sources, with the formal announcement in the works by the end of this week. For the NBA it will be one more step of reestablishing certain traditions after a 2019/2020 season saw the league culminate the season in a bubble in Orlando.
