NFL News: Aaron Rodgers had a very powerful reason to sign with Steelers

Aaron Rodgers had a key reason for signing with the Steelers: Mike Tomlin. According to Adam Schefter, the head coach was a crucial part of the negotiation process that led the quarterback to finally decide to play in Pittsburgh.

“Steelers never wavered in their belief that Aaron Rodgers eventually would sign with Pittsburgh. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin loomed large in this entire situation. Tomlin was a drawing card for Rodgers, and was happy to work within Rodgers’ timeline. He is a major reason that Rodgers will be a Steeler.”

For several years, even during games, Tomlin and Rodgers have publicly expressed the admiration they have for each other. It’s important to remember that Aaron won the only Super Bowl in his career precisely against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as a member of the Green Bay Packers in the 2010 season.

Did the Steelers get Aaron Rodgers?

Yes. The Steelers finally got Aaron Rodgers, as the quarterback has confirmed to the team that he will travel to Pittsburgh to attend the mandatory minicamp, which will take place from June 10 to June 12.

The star will sign a one-year contract and, according to several reports, the amount he will receive is close to $10 million plus incentives. His debut will be on September 7 against the New York Jets.
