The Steelers have confirmed Aaron Rodgers as their new starting quarterback, bringing veteran leadership and championship experience to the team. This strategic signing could be the missing piece in their quest for a Super Bowl run.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have confirmed that Aaron Rodgers will officially be a new player for the black and gold franchise. After several months of uncertainty, the veteran is ready to join forces with Mike Tomlin.

The announcement was made on the team’s social media on Thursday night. “We have agreed to terms with quarterback Aaron Rodgers on a one-year contract, pending the completion of a physical.”

Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan were very patient throughout the offseason despite pressure from national media due to the lack of a response from the player. Now, the piece they believe can take them to the Super Bowl has arrived.

Who will be the Steelers starting quarterback?

Aaron Rodgers will be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers on a depth chart that includes Mason Rudolph as the backup and rookie Will Howard as a prospect to develop for the future. The name now at risk, although he will remain on the roster, is Skylar Thompson.

As expected, Aaron Rodgers’ contract is only for one season since, according to several reports, the Steelers are planning to recruit a quarterback early in the 2026 Draft. To prepare for that, they have accumulated 12 picks.
