Aaron Rodgers will be the new quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a surprising statement by Matt LaFleur. The veteran’s former head coach with the Green Bay Packers said he has no doubt it will happen during an interview with Chris Simms.
“I could certainly see that coming to fruition here pretty shortly. I’m anticipating that happening. So, I won’t be surprised. I just can’t see him not playing the game of football this year and that obviously makes the most sense (Steelers). I know that, just in our discussions over the years, he’s a guy that he’s had as much respect for as anybody as a guy like Mike Tomlin.”
The Packers will face the Steelers in Week 8 on Sunday Night Football in what could be a spectacular reunion of the Super Bowl champion quarterback with his former team.
Is Aaron Rodgers retiring from football?
Aaron Rodgers is not retiring, according to Matt LaFleur. The head coach sounded convinced that it’s very unlikely the quarterback won’t try to win one last championship. However, the veteran said a few weeks ago that he’s not sure if he’ll play due to issues with his inner circle.
What’s certain is that the only offer on the table is from the Steelers, and if the project in Pittsburgh doesn’t convince him, retirement seems like a very strong possibility, as it appears unlikely that a contender will call him at the last minute.
