Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers seem convinced that Aaron Rodgers will sign with the team. For several weeks, the fourth round had been the projected time to draft a quarterback, and they didn’t do it.
On the contrary, general manager Omar Khan selected a great edge rusher like Jack Sawyer from Ohio State. Once again, in a decision that’s hard to explain, Shedeur Sanders was available and they didn’t take him.
According to multiple reports, this could mean that the former Super Bowl champion with the Packers has given the Steelers certain assurances, and that’s why there’s no rush to draft a quarterback. Knowing that Rodgers is coming, they can focus on strengthening a defense that collapsed in the playoffs against the Ravens.
Who will be Steelers starting quarterback in 2025 season?
All signs point to Aaron Rodgers being the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025. The team has checked every box, with the most important one being the patience to wait for the star.
Also, many insiders pointed out that Rodgers didn’t want a star rookie quarterback behind him because of the pressure it would create. Even though Aaron denied it with Pat McAfee, it’s very telling that Pittsburgh didn’t draft a quarterback after the first four rounds.
It’s important to remember that Art Rooney II already said during the 2025 Draft that Rodgers is close. “We’re still kind of getting the same signals we’ve been getting recently that he does want to come here. I do think we may get word soon obviously with things starting to crank up here with the offseason program. If he’s coming, we would like to get him soon for some of that.”
