Al Nassr suffered a tough 3-1 defeat against Al Qadsiah at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium in the Saudi Pro League Matchday 31. With this result, they saw their strong winning streak come to an end, allowing Al Hilal to close the gap. Even so, Cristiano Ronaldo lifted his team’s spirits on social media.

With this loss, Al Nassr saw their run of 20 consecutive matches won across all competitions come to an end, equaling the longest streak of Ronaldo’s club career. It ended in a match where even Julian Quinones (29) scored the third goal, widening the gap in the scoring table with Cristiano Ronaldo (25).

In addition, with Matchday 31 of 34 underway, Al Hilal still had chances to catch them. With this defeat, Al Nassr remain on 79 points, and Al Hilal have 74, but with a game in hand from Matchday 28 against Al-Khaleej on May 5, they could reach 77 points, just two behind, with nine points still in play. \

Al Nassr’s defeat

A truly unfortunate match for Al Nassr, who hope it doesn’t come back to hurt them in a major way at the end of the season, because it is something Al Hilal can fully take advantage of and potentially take the title in the final matchdays.

The team managed by Jorge Jesus started the match trailing after a goal from Abu Al Shamat in 24′ minute with a right-footed finish, but Al Nassr equalized before the end of the first half in 39′ minute through a goal by Joao Felix after a counterattack and an assist from Brozovic.

The collapse came in the second half, when the Saudi Pro League top scorer stepped up, as Julian Quinones assisted Al Juwayr to score, and then he sealed the match in 78′ minute with a right-footed finish, making it 3-1 without a good performance of Cristiano Ronaldo.

What’s next for Al Nassr?

Al Nassr depend on themselves if they want to secure both titles they have at stake, the AFC Champions League two final against Gamba Osaka, and the remaining three league matches. Here are the upcoming matches for Al Nassr:

  • Al Hilal (home), May 12
