The UConn Huskies are the best team in women’s college basketball right now. They’re the team to beat of those still left in contention, even ahead of the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Notably, plenty of that has to do with Paige Bueckers and her proficient game. And while she’s not the most explosive scorer, her all-around game has made her one of the most well-rounded players in college hoops history.
That’s why, even though she’s not known for his scoring outbursts, she can still take down one of Caitlin Clark’s most impressive records, according to Sporting News’ David Suggs.
Paige Bueckers can break Caitlin Clark’s tournament record
“As is the case with a great many NCAA records, Caitlin Clark sits atop the list of most prolific Women’s March Madness scorers, tallying 492 points across 17 tournament appearances — an average of 28.9 a game,” Suggs wrote. “Bueckers won’t catch Clark in terms of scoring average. But the UConn guard could eclipse her in raw scoring numbers if she can score at least 49 points during the Final Four.”

Paige Bueckers #5
Needless to say, that will be easier said than done. Then again, judging by the way she’s played this season, it also wouldn’t be much of a surprise if she pulled it off.
