San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers go a long way back. From their beginnings in New York all the way to the West Coast, they hold one of the strongest rivalries in Major League Baseball history.
Even so, and despite meeting over 2,000 times in their history, Giants and Dodgers had never squared off in the postseason. Now, the Dodgers have the ultimate bragging rights after knocking them out in the NLDS.
Game 5 was an instant classic as expected, with the Dodgers needing a ninth-inning single by Cody Bellinger to get the win. Now, they’ll host the Atlanta Braves for another shot at a World Series trophy.

Max Scherzer has been a Dodger for two months and he’s already a legend. They should use this pose for the statue. pic.twitter.com/3f4RYhH2Tz

The Giants broke a franchise record with 107 wins in the regular season, which was also the best in the league. Sadly, it wasn’t enough to get past their lifelong and most hated rivals in the NLDS.
TheDodgers have the most overpowered team in the Majors and it’s not even close. Even without Trevor Bauer, they have the best pitching staff in the league and an explosive, dynamic offense as well.
Nonetheless, Dave Roberts’ teams have a history of choking when it matters the most, so they should be wary of being overconfident against the Tribe, or even vs. the Houston Astros / Red Sox in the case they advance.
The reigning champions have been rock solid for most of the season and it doesn’t seem like they’re going to slow down any time soon. As of now, it’s pretty clear that they’re the team to beat.
