NY Mets’ AJ Ewing etches name in history, matching 122-year-old MLB record in stunning debut

While manager Carlos Mendoza remains patient with Bo Bichette’s early-season struggles, he now has a hot hand he can rely on in the lineup. Expectation is already sky-high for what Ewing can provide the Mets’ offense as the homestand continues.

He added a stolen base, three walks, and two runs scored to his line, while also remaining perfect in his lone defensive opportunity in the outfield.

Following his historic debut, Ewing’s focus remains on sustaining that momentum to help the Mets climb back into the race. “Wow, this is baseball,” a stunned Ewing told the media after learning about the records he shattered in his first night as a Met.
