Throughout NBA history, a handful of players have defined entire eras. Legends like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant are some of the examples. Despite that, when the conversation turns to the greatest of all time, two names consistently dominate: Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Now, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has stepped into the debate and made his stance clear.

In a dynamic Q&A with his X, formerly Twitter followers, the Bucksā€˜ star Giannis Antetokounmpo stated that Michael Jordan or LeBron James would be his choices as NBA GOAT. Despite not having picked just one of both, many bring up his statements to The Athletic in 2023. ā€œSome guys might say he (LeBron) is No. 2, but other guys like me, I say he is No. 1…For 21 years, you never get in trouble, to be able to take in his family, protect this family, raise his kids the right way, you know, be happily married, all those things, it’s perfect.ā€

Considering all this, we can say that LeBron James has clearly dominated Giannis Antetokounmpo’s rankings for years. Nevertheless, Giannis included Michael Jordan, which shows he recognizes his legacy in the NBA. Although many fans often compare both stars, Giannis avoids doing so. Instead, he prefers not to compare players from different eras. After all, since they never played at the same time, comparisons become even more complicated.

Many argue that before Michael Jordan, there was no real debate about the NBA’s GOAT. He changed that forever. Jordan set the standard and raised the bar to the highest level. Because of that, many rank him as the greatest of all time. He won six NBA championships and played a decisive role in every single one. On top of that, he claimed five MVP awards. His dominance in stats, his consistency, and his cultural influence all strengthen his case as one of the best ever.

He earned four NBA championships and four MVP awards. In addition, LeBron broke several league records. He holds the marks for most minutes played, most points scored, and most games with over 20 points.
