You know what they say: The rich get richer. The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a trade with the Washington Wizards to land former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook in what could be just the first of many big deals of the night.
The trade was reported earlier by Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski but was made official during the Draft after both teams finalized terms. Obviously, the internet had a lot to say about it.
“The Washington Wizards have agreed to trade Russell Westbrook, 2024 second-round pick, 2028 second-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and No. 22 tonight, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium,” reported Shams Charania.
Lakers Trade For Russell Westbrook: Funniest Memes And Reactions

But not everything is positive. The Lakers gave away two of their best – and few – three-point shooters and added one of the worst shooters in NBA history, a move that doesn’t make sense from a fit standpoint.
Then again, every time you have the chance to pair up 3 of the best players in the league, you must pull the trigger, especially if you’re a big-marketteam likethe Los Angeles Lakers, so we get it.
Also, the Lakers got rid of two players that they weren’t really sold on. Neither Montrezl Harrell nor Kyle Kuzma were part of their plans in the long term. Sadly, they had to package them with one of their best shooters and perimeter defenders in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
