The Phoenix Suns have one of the most talented rosters in the NBA. However, they failed to secure a playoff spot. Their season ended with a disappointing loss to the Sacramento Kings in the final regular-season game. Even though the team did not meet expectations, Kevin Durant continued to shine. He scored 30 or more points in three of the last five games. Following Durantās strong finish, Devin Booker did not hold back in expressing his admiration for his teammateās efforts.
āItās been a joy (playing with Durant). From my favorite player to a teammate, I donāt take it lightly, our relationship on and off the courtā¦I learned so much from him and Iām still learning from him day to day,ā stated Devin Booker.
Although Kevin Durant received criticism from fans, he remained the Sunsā most impactful player throughout the NBA season. The veteran averaged 26.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. He was the teamās top scorer and a steady presence on the floor.
At 36 years old, Durant led a group that struggled to build chemistry. The team lacked cohesion and showed clear areas for improvement. Even so, Durant continued to deliver on both ends of the court. Still, many blamed him for the Sunsā poor performance.

Devin Booker acknowledged that he learned a lot alongside the Suns veteran. However, things started to change when the team tried to trade him without notice during the last window. This move bothered the veteran deeply, and his attitude shifted from that moment on. Therefore, his departure from the team now seems like a very realistic option.

Kevin Durant under fire: Is he to blame for the Phoenix Sunsā disappointing season?
The Phoenix Suns made a bold decision. They trade their young talents for experimented players to chase a championship in the short term. At this point, the gamble did not pay off. The move turned out to be a failure. However, itās not Kevin Durantās fault. He delivered and made a difference on the court. The problem likely came from other areas. Several factors may have prevented this project from working.
One of the biggest issues may have been on the sidelines. Mike Budenholzer struggled to develop individual talent and never managed to establish a cohesive identity for the team. Without balance or direction, the Suns failed to build any real consistency throughout the season.
Their lack of chemistry was evident on both ends of the floor, contributing to a disappointing campaign. Now, with the offseason approaching, significant changes to the roster appear increasingly likely.
