If there was one headline-worthy storyline in the most recent NFL Draft, it was undoubtedly the saga involving Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns. Few expected such a dramatic slide for the quarterback, but fate ultimately landed him in Jimmy Haslamâs organization.
And it was the teamâs owner himself who shared some insight into that long draft dayâone that saw the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback join Kevin Stefanskiâs squad shortly after the arrival of Dillon Gabriel.
In a recent conversation with the press, Haslam clarified that while decisions are usually made together, the main person responsible for bringing Sanders to the Browns was General Manager Andrew Berry.
âWe have good process,â Haslam said, via Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com. âWe had a conversation early that morning and then we had a conversation later that day. I think we had the right people involved in the conversation. And the end of the day, thatâs [G.M.] Andrew Berryâs call. Andrew made the call to pick Shedeur.â
