Tom Brady never ceases to amaze. Somehow, someway, people still questioned his greatness and his legacy after he led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl rings. Thatās why, now that he took the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the top of the world and won his NFLārecord seventh ring, there arenāt many people who could question his status as the greatest player of all time, not even his colleagues that also had a strong GOAT case like Joe Montana or even Jerry Rice.
Some people argue that the GOAT doesnāt have to be a quarterback. Then again, itās hard to argue with such an impressive rĆ©sumĆ©, even if itās a team sport and Brady may not be the most athletic guy in football history.
Others believe that Bradyās GOAT case is stained by the fact that football is easier for offensive players now in comparison to the old days. Thatās because the rules favor and protect the offense now more than ever.
Jerry Rice Says Football Was More Physical Back Then
That seems to be Jerry Riceās opinion on the GOAT debate, as he recently said on an interview that the game isnāt as physical as it used to be:
āI donāt have seven Super Bowl rings, but I think I played in an era when football was more of a contact sport. Youāre seeing a lot of that now ā players are protected,ā JerryRice told 95.7 The Game.
Jerry Rice Says Brady Can āKeep The GOATā Status
Nonetheless, even Rice had to admit that people canāt take anything away from Tom Bradyās accomplishments. Eventually,he had no choice but to admit that number 12 is most likely the best to ever do it:
āWhen you have seven rings, youāre doing something right,ā Rice admitted.āI think with Brady, he still wants to play. He said something about playing until heās 45,ā Rice added. āI think he can do it now in this league because players are so much more protected. So, yeah, he can have that GOAT status. I never wanted that status anyhow.ā
Everybodyās entitled to his own opinion. Perhaps you think other players are more athletic, more talented, or even better than him. But at the end of the day, itās all about winning, and no one wins more than Tom Brady.
