The Pittsburgh Steelers got off to the best start in franchise history this season. They won 11 consecutive games and were the only undefeated team in the NFL through 12 weeks. Now, theyâre in danger of not even winning their division.
There were a lot of doubts about the Steelersâ flawless record. Some people doubted them because they didnât exactly dominate and barely beat teams under .500 for most of the season.
And now that theyâve dropped three straight games â two vs. subpar rivals â and with the playoffs around the corner, itâs pretty clear that there are plenty of reasons to be worried about if youâre a Steelers fan.
Mike Tomlin Says The Steelers Arenât A Good Team Right Now
Thatâs why head coach Mike Tomlin had no choice but to call out himself and his team after a tough loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, especially considering whatâs coming ahead on the final weeks of the season:
âWeâve got a lot of work to do. Weâre not a good football group right now. And so we understand the consequences that come with that. Weâre working on a short week. Weâve got to be better than what weâve been. And thatâs just the reality of it,â Tomlin said, as quoted by Pro Football Talk.
Mike Tomlin Says Ben Roethlisberger Must Be Better
And, when asked about Ben Roethlisbergerâs health and his recent poor performances, Tomlin claimed that he was healthy: âItâs not injury related. It just wasnât good enough, like all of us â me included. Weâve got to be betterâ.
The Steelers have barely been able to move the chains this season. They have an elite defense but thatâs not enough to dominate in the league anymore. Up ahead they have the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns, so even if theyâve already clinched a playoff berth, they could still miss on their division despite starting 11-0.
