NFL News: Aaron Rodgers confirms why Mike Tomlin and Steelers might not be able to sign him

Aaron Rodgers has finally shed light on the personal challenges keeping him from committing to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a revealing moment, the veteran quarterback explained why Mike Tomlin and the team may be left waiting, or forced to move on.

Aaron Rodgers confirmed in an interview with Joe Rogan that several of his family members are battling cancer. That would be the reason why the quarterback has not signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, considering that a few weeks ago, he had already spoken about issues with his inner circle.

Rodgers’ confession came while he was talking with Rogan about scientific research and innovation to cure diseases. “But you know what happens? And I figured it out during the last year when I’ve been in the weeds with these people who are close to me that have cancer is that innovation is frowned upon.”

At that moment, perhaps without realizing the impact of his words, the Super Bowl champion quarterback finally revealed the personal reason why, in a completely understandable way, he has not decided his future.

Is Aaron Rodgers retiring from football?

No. Aaron Rodgers never mentioned that he is currently considering retirement. However, with the seriousness of the situation publicly known, the uncertainty reaches another level.

Now, his first message from a few weeks ago with Pat McAfee makes sense. Rodgers clearly stated that he had warned interested teams that his inner circle was a priority, and that if they decided to move on, they were free to do so. The big question is how long Pittsburgh will waiting for him, and whether Aaron will be able to balance his personal situation with football.
