According to a report by Mike Florio, the quarterback might be trying to avoid the experience he had with the Jets when, at this same stage, a previously scheduled trip to Egypt sparked heavy criticism.
āThereās two ways he could have been a distraction. One, by not being signed with the Steelers and kind of hovering, or two, by being signed with the Steelers and staying away from the two phases of the offseason program, which he hates by the way. He does not like Phase 1 and Phase 2.ā
That would be a key factor for the Super Bowl champion quarterback to request delaying his decision until the second week of June, when the Steelersā mandatory minicamp begins.
