The New Orleans Saints are going through a period of uncertainty ahead of the NFL Draft. Despite holding the ninth overall pick, the situation surrounding quarterback Derek Carr raises concerns. At the moment, the NFC South division franchise only has Alvin Kamara as its star heading into the upcoming season.

Carr had suffered a fracture in his non-throwing hand during a game against the New York Giants in December of last year, when the Saints were playing their final regular season games. Kamara’s teammate has not been present at the team’s facilities since then, fueling rumors about his future.

As the offseason progresses, the lack of clarity surrounding Carr has led to speculation about the possibility of the Saints selecting a new quarterback in the upcoming draft in Green Bay, with prospects like Jaxson Dart in their sights. In this regard, general manager Mickey Loomis has provided new details about the Saints’ quarterback situation.

“He does have an issue with his shoulder. We’re hoping to get some resolution and clarity on that in the near future. And when we do, I’ll report back to you. Otherwise, I don’t have anything more on Derek,” Saints GM Loomis said about Carr.

Loomis spoke about the new shoulder injury suffered by the Saints’ quarterback at a sensitive time, just hours before the draft. However, the New Orleans team will not alter its strategy for selecting prospects, emphasizing a focus on strengthening both the offensive and defensive lines.
