New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk has announced his retirement from after eight seasons with the franchise. The team, which features star running back Alvin Kamara, loses one of its most important players for the 2025 NFL season.
Admittedly, things did not go well for the Saints last season. Ramczyk struggled with injuries and was unable to play in a single game. At the same time, problems at quarterback have left Kamara as the only key weapon capable of getting the ball rolling on offense.
Selected with the 32nd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Ramczyk quickly became a key part of the Saints’ offensive line. He was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2019, and second-team All-Pro in 2018 and 2020. He started 101 games for the franchise. After announcing his decision to retire from his professional career, he left a strong message. Star Kamara will lose another key teammate.
Ramczyk’s bold admission after retiring from the Saints
“What an incredible journey it’s been. My path to the NFL wasn’t a straight line, it wasn’t the story most people expect. There were moments when people doubted me, moments when I doubted myself. It’s funny how life works out. Sometimes the road less traveled leads to places you never expected, but it ends up being exactly where you were meant to be. As I step into retirement, I am filled with gratitude for everything this sport has given me,” Ramczyk admitted while confirming his retirement.

The reasons and emotions behind Ramczyk’s retirement
In recent years, Ramczyk has dealt with a lingering cartilage problem in his knee that sidelined him for the entire 2024 season. In his retirement statement, he expressed gratitude for his journey from technical college to the NFL and thanked his coaches, teammates and fans. He also expressed his excitement to spend more time with his family, especially his two young children.
