Joe Burrow has urged the Cincinnati Bengals to keep their biggest stars in order to remain competitive. However, one of those stars has now threatened to leave the AFC North franchise over a contract dispute.
One of the Bengalsā biggest challenges in recent years has been managing the salary cap. Most recently, the front office had to address contract extensions for JaāMarr Chase, and Tee HigginsāBurrowās top receiving targets.
Burrow has publicly stated heās willing to take a pay cut to help the team retain key players. Still, one of the Bengalsā biggest stars is reportedly unhappy with his current deal and may walk away if the team doesnāt meet his contract demands.
Bengals star threatens to leave over contract dispute
Last season, the Bengals narrowly missed the playoffs. A slow start left them relying on outside results, and despite a strong finish, it wasnāt enough to qualify.
In response to the disappointing campaign, Burrow called on the front office to retain the teamās core. The club responded by securing contract extensions for JaāMarr Chase and Tee Higgins. But one standout on the defensive side of the ball is still waitingāand growing impatient.
