Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers promised they would select a quarterback in the 2025 Draft, and they did. Will Howard from Ohio State joins the team as the organization continues to wait for a response from Aaron Rodgers.
With three of their first four picks, the Steelers strengthened their defense with Derrick Harmon, Jack Sawyer, and Yahya Black. They had also selected running back Kaleb Johnson in the third round.
For several weeks now, with the appropriate comparisons, Howard had been linked to the Steelers due to his similar skill set to Ben Roethlisberger, the last quarterback to win a Super Bowl with Pittsburgh. That’s why they chose Will in the sixth round.
Who will be Steelers starting quarterback?
Aaron Rodgers would be the starting quarterback for the Steelers according to the positive messages publicly shared by both head coach Mike Tomlin and team owner Art Rooney II.
Now, along with the possible arrival of Rodgers, they already have the depth they were missing in the quarterback room, with Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and Skylar Thompson secured.

It is important to note that the rookie from Ohio State is seen as a long-term project, so if Rodgers does not sign, Rudolph would be the starter or a possible trade for Kirk Cousins could be activated.
