Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in signing Terry McLaurin. However, according to a report by Chris Halicke, it seems that the Washington Commanders are not going to trade the star wide receiver.

“The Steelers reached out to the Commanders about a trade for Terry McLaurin, but are not expected to land the star receiver, a source tells DK Pittsburgh Sports.”

The Steelers believe they have a roster capable of winning the Super Bowl after the arrival of names like Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey, and Darius Slay. The problem is that the wide receiver position lacks depth.

Is Terry McLaurin a free agent?

No. Terry McLaurin is not currently a free agent. He remains under contract with the Washington Commanders, with his deal extending through the end of the 2025 season.

According to Halicke, one of the main reasons the Steelers might not be able to acquire McLaurin is that the Commanders’ player wants to be the No. 1 wide receiver on any team he joins, not just financially but also on the field.

“In reaching out to the Commanders, the Steelers learned that McLaurin not only wants to be paid like a true No. 1 receiver, which is expected, he wants to be a true No. 1 receiver on whatever team he plays on in 2025 and beyond. With the Steelers having DK Metcalf signed to a five-year, $150 million contract, they’ve committed to him as their No. 1 receiver. With McLaurin searching for a situation to be the top receiver, the Steelers aren’t a fit.”
