NFL News: Mike Tomlin is asked to part ways with Steelers by Pittsburgh Super Bowl champion

A Pittsburgh Super Bowl champion has made a bold statement, saying that Mike Tomlin should part ways with the Steelers. After years of guiding the team, the call for change grows louder amid the franchise's struggles and uncertainty about its future.

Mike Tomlin should leave the Pittsburgh Steelers. That’s the surprising recommendation made by Ryan Clark amid the team’s growing uncertainty as they wait on Aaron Rodgers and continue to search for their franchise quarterback of the future.

ā€œI believe Mike Tomlin should coach in another organization. Mike Tomlin should be a fresh voice somewhere else because I believe, as great as a coach he is, and he is a first ballot Hall of Famer, I believe his voice has run stale there. I believe he’s allowed that team to reach the highest of heights they’re going to reach unless they can get a top tier quarterback. I’ve said time and time again, I do believe that should be the decision he makes. He needs to go and have his Andy Reid Kansas City run.ā€

The Steelers haven’t won a Super Bowl in 16 years, and according to Clark, the dynamic between Tomlin and the team has reached a point of no return. That’s why, in his view, the best example of a fresh start is Andy Reid, who left the Eagles and went on to build a dynasty with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Will Mike Tomlin be fired?

No. Mike Tomlin will not be fired by the Pittsburgh Steelers. In fact, he signed a contract extension last year that secures his position as head coach at least through the 2027 season.

So, as Clark mentions, the only way for him to part ways with the Steelers would have to be a decision from Tomlin himself, seeking a new challenge. At the moment, that doesn’t seem to be on the horizon.
