Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to rebuild an offense that has suffered many losses this offseason. While waiting for Aaron Rodgers to make a decision, the team’s front office keeps making moves.

At the quarterback position, Mason Rudolph and Will Howard are currently filling the spots left by Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. In the wide receiver room, George Pickens is out after a trade with the Cowboys, but the plan all along was for DK Metcalf to be the WR1, surrounded by names like Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods, and Roman Wilson.

However, a key factor for the Steelers to become Super Bowl contenders again is the running game. Najee Harris went to the Chargers, so Jaylen Warren will carry most of the workload, supported by rookie Kaleb Johnson. Now, more help is arriving at that position.

Who did the Steelers just sign?

The Pittsburgh Steelers just signed running back Trey Sermon, according to a report by Jordan Schultz. The contract for the player is for one season. As we’ve mentioned, in Arthur Smith’s system, the running game needs to take a big leap in 2025.

Sermon entered the NFL after being selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2021 Draft, but he was released a year later. In the 2022 season, he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles and then moved on to the Indianapolis Colts. In 2024, he rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
