NFL News: Steelers star sends clear message about Aaron Rodgers and decision to sign with Pittsburgh

Cam Heyward is taking a more measured approach in the quest for Aaron Rodgers, calling for patience as the Steelers await the QB's decision. After a public push for a quick commitment, Heyward now stresses the importance of waiting for the right fit, No rush. Just the right move for Pittsburgh's future.

Aaron Rodgers still has not given an answer to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In this situation, Cam Heyward, who a few weeks ago publicly pressured the veteran to make a decision soon, has now changed his tone and is asking for patience. This was the message about the entire situation and any update on his podcast ā€˜Not Just Football’.

ā€œI don’t think we give enough patience to people. I think in this day and age with social media and everything, we kind of just expect an answer right there, right now. I don’t know where this is going to end. I don’t know if he’s ever going to be a Steeler. I don’t know if he’s already a Steeler, but, I think, let’s just show some patience.ā€

Heyward has never won a Super Bowl in his career, just like other veterans such as T.J. Watt. That’s why the arrival of a great player like Rodgers could make the difference after the failures of recent years in the playoffs.

Will Aaron Rodgers sign with Steelers?

The owner of the Steelers, Art Rooney II, confirmed during the 2025 Draft that Aaron Rodgers wants to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers and that the team continues to receive the same signals regarding his intention to sign with them.

That could be one of the reasons to explain why Heyward suddenly changed his stance, considering that just a month ago, his call for Rodgers was clear and very controversial.

ā€œI ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap. Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. It’s that simple. That’s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers. If you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.ā€
