T.J. Watt spoke for the first time at training camp. The star linebacker was asked what his reaction was when he found out that Aaron Rodgers had signed with Pittsburgh, and what the key will be for the veteran quarterback to fit with the Steelers’ culture.

ā€œI mean, he’s been around the block quite some time. So, I think he is going to bring a lot to the table. I’m excited to be able to get to see him. I haven’t been able to shake his hand and say hello yet. I’m excited. Just like all the new guys we have.ā€

Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan have made it clear that the roster is being built to win the Super Bowl this year. Since Watt entered the NFL in 2017, the Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t even been able to secure a single playoff victory.

How long is T.J. Watt’s contract with Steelers?

T.J. Watt signed a three-year, $123 million contract extension with the Steelers, which means his deal now runs through the 2028 season. In fact, the linebacker became the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

After signing that massive contract, Watt was asked at training camp why he believes the Steelers can be Super Bowl contenders in the latter stage of his career, unlike what has happened in recent years.

ā€œI think that it’s the endless pursuit of it. Just wanting to continue to do everything possible and turn every stone. As to this point, we haven’t been able to do that. You see the aggressiveness we’ve taken organizationally. I’m doing everything I can personally. We can sit here and talk about not winning a playoff game and how much I want to do it, but, at the end of the day, it’s just lip service. It’s all about what we do. That’s why I’m excited to be back here.ā€
