The Dallas Cowboys are going through a turbulent preseason as Micah Parsons has requested a trade due to the lack of progress in contract extension talks. While the dust is still settling from the shock of the situation, the franchise has made a decision regarding the future of one of quarterback Dak Prescott’s teammates.

Parsons, a defensive star and four-time Pro Bowler, stunned the organization by publicly requesting a trade after negotiations fell through, stating: “I no longer want to be here.” His demand has created tension within the team, although the front office reportedly has no immediate plans to move the player.

Meanwhile, Prescott is facing a new opportunity to prove he can lead Dallas to success after a disappointing 2024 season. Losing Parsons would be a major blow, but amidst the uncertainty, one player’s arrival has been confirmed.

Dallas has agreed to bring back offensive guard La’el Collins, a former member of the team who recently worked out with them. Although the Parsons drama overshadowed the news, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the team and Collins have reached an agreement.

Collins returns to the team that originally signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2015. His arrival is good news for the Cowboys’ star quarterback, before his recent workout, the 32-year-old veteran told Prescott’s kids he was going to “protect their dad.”

Collins arrives at a time of need in Dallas

This will be Collins’ third stint with the Cowboys, having played for them from 2015 to 2021 and rejoining briefly in early 2024. His return comes at a crucial moment, as the franchise lost four offensive linemen last week, making depth at that position an urgent need.
