Patricia Traina of Sports Illustrated has identified four names worth watching: wide receiver Darius Slayton, offensive lineman Jake Kubas, linebacker Darius Muasau and offensive lineman Evan Neal. Each could attract interest from teams looking for experienced depth at their respective positions.
Slayton, in particular, could be one of the most intriguing names. With the Houston Texans dealing with a need for wide receiver depth, the Giants’ veteran wideout could become an appealing option for a team looking to add a proven player without making a major investment.
Darnell Mooney could also become a trade asset
Darnell Mooney is another name that deserves consideration as the Giants evaluate their crowded receiver room. Malik Nabers is nearing his return to full football activities, while Odell Beckham Jr. has impressed during training camp and preseason, giving New York more options on the outside.
Rookie Malachi Fields has also strengthened his case for a significant role after an encouraging start to his NFL career. His development gives the Giants another young option who could eventually push established veterans down the depth chart.
That makes Mooney an interesting potential trade chip despite his recent flashes. The Giants could decide that moving either Slayton or Mooney makes more sense if another team offers meaningful value, while Kubas, Muasau and Neal could similarly become expendable depending on how the final roster battles unfold.
