The Green Bay Packers got off to a promising start to the Jordan Love era. They won two of their first three games in the NFL season, and were one play away from starting 3-0.

Love looked poised and ready to take the reins after Aaron Rodgers‘ departure, but it’s been a tale of two stories ever since. The Packers have dropped three games in a row, all while failing to score more than 20 points during that stretch.

The first-year starter has thrown 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in his past three games. He’s shown some signs of promise but has failed to lead the offense down the field at key times, especially in late-game situations.

Despite all that, HC Matt LaFleur hasn’t considered making a change at the quarterback position. He’s still confident in his ability to get the job done, and he likes what he’s seen thus far.

Matt LaFleur Still Has Faith In Jordan Love

“It all works in unison and, so, the better everybody is around him, the better he’s going to look,” LaFleur said in his press conference. “Our confidence in him is not wavering one bit.”

LaFleur knows his team needs to do a better job of hitting the ground running and not dig themselves into a hole with slow starts. They’re coming off being shut out in the first half, and he knows they need to do a better job of making things easy for their quarterback:

Certainly, I think, as the play-caller you put a lot of onus on yourself when things aren’t going well,“ he added. “We’ll continue to do that, but we’ve got to find a way to generate more points because when you’re generating points, it’s just a totally different narrative.”

Love Voiced His Frustration After The Loss

Love was visually frustrated after the loss to the Denver Broncos. He threw a game-losing interception in the fourth quarter, and he feels like his team has failed the most of his chances to take over this season:

We all know it’s ups and downs, but everyone is very frustrated,” Love said, per The Athletic. We’ve got to find a way to win. We’ve got to find a way to win these games. We’ve been put in this position multiple times where it comes down to offense, you know, having to win the game, and we’ve not capitalized on that. We’re not capitalizing on these end-of-game situations, and I think these situations are going to keep coming until we find a way to win.”

The Packers will now host the Minnesota Vikings in a divisional rivalry matchup. Losing that game would take their record to 2-5, and most likely the bottom of the NFC North Division. And while Love’s job is secure for now, the fans at Lambeau Field can be pretty ruthless when things don’t go the team’s way.

Losing a Hall of Famer at the game’s most crucial position is a big blow for any team. But if the Packers like what they’ve seen from their young quarterback, even despite the losses, they’ll just have to be patient and stick with him through the growing pains.
