WatchingNFL kickers missing wide-open, close-range field goals and botching extra-point attempts is getting more common by the day right now. Then again, we never thought we’d see Tennesse Titans‘ Stephen Gostkowski make all the headlines for this kind of thing.
Gostkowski is one of the greatest kickers to ever do it. He’s a lock to make it to the Hall of Fame once it’s all said and done, as he entered yesterday’s clash vs. the Denver Broncos as the 5th most-accurate kicker ever.
However, it’s not a secret that his performances have been subpar since the past season and that’s why Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots decided that it was better to part ways with him after all this years.
And right when his former teammate Mike Vrabel trusted him to fix the special teams’ woes in Tennessee, Gostkowski was pretty close to costing them a tight victory in Week 1, as he botched three field goals and one PAT.
Needless to say, when a bonafide star and one of the best on his position makesuch blatant mistakes, the internet isn’t going to just let it go. Check out the funniest memes and reactions from Stephen Gostkowski’s nightmare night.

At the end of the day, Ryan Tannehill proved again that he’s a solid game-manager – and not much else – the Broncos made a couple of avoidable mistakes, like a late pass-interference call and not calling timeouts to stop the clock, and the Titans got a 16-14win that shouldn’t have been as narrow as it was.
Ironically, it was Gostkowski the one who sealed the victory for Vrabel’s team with a 25-yard field goal that went a little wide. He lives to tell the story another day but it seems like he’s going to be out of his job in no time if he doesn’t go back to his former self.
