As the 2025 NHL Draft draws closer, front offices across the league are tightening their strategies, eyeing the kind of young talent that can shift a franchise’s future. But not all teams approach the draft with the same arsenal.

Some clubs arrive armed with a treasure chest of picks, the result of shrewd trades, long-term rebuilds, or bold gambles. Others are left with minimal selections, having dealt away draft capital for veteran help or playoff pushes.

This year, one franchise stands out with an unusually large stockpile of draft selections—enough to turn heads. With months of speculation already swirling, the numbers paint a compelling picture of where the power lies.

Closely trailing them are the Philadelphia Flyers, boasting 11 picks in total. Notably, the Flyers hold three first-rounders and three second-rounders, giving them an impressive six selections within the top 48—evidence of a bold rebuild strategy that shows no signs of slowing down.

While other teams like the Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins enter the draft with 10 picks apiece, the spotlight remains firmly on Montreal and Philadelphia due to the sheer value and volume of their selections.

In contrast, the Colorado Avalanche approach the draft with just two picks—the fewest of any franchise—highlighting their clear win-now approach and a series of roster-depleting trades that sacrificed future assets for present success.
