The Conmebol World Cup Qualifiers continue today, June 8, 2021, with Matchday 8. This time, Ecuador will receive Peru at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito to try to recover the points left against Brazil, while the visitors have the obligation to break their negative run of four defeats if they want to get out of the bottom of the table. Ecuador is in the top three of the standings after winning three games so far. Gustavo Alfaro’s team has only lost against Argentina and Brazil, who remain  second and first in the Qualifiers. Meanwhile, Peru is in a complete opposite position with four losses and only one draw with Paraguay.

Ecuador’s confirmed lineup for the match 

For this game, Ecuador’s captain Enner Valencia is not going to be available due to accumulations of yellow cards. Also, Moises Caicedo would return to the starting eleven after missing the match against Brazil. 

After losing with Brazil, Ecuador will bring up their best men to beat Peru. The confirmed lineup will be: Dominguez, Perlaza, Arboleda, Arreaga, Estupiñán; Carabalí, Méndez, M. Caicedo; Mena, J. Caicedo, Michel Estrada.

On the other hand, Peru has two absences. Their left back, Miguel Trauco was expelled in the game against Colombia with double yellow. Also, Paolo Guerrero could have some rest after playing 90 minutes just getting out of an injury. 

With that in mind, Ricardo Gareca proved some names in the training sessions. The Peruvian lineup will be: Gallese; Advíncula, Ramos, Abram, López; Tapia, Yotún; Carrillo, Peña, Cueva; Lapadula.
