Honduras won 4-0 over Grenada for Matchday 1 of Gold Cup 2021in Houston, Texas. With this win, Los Catrachos are now first in the Group D standings, after Panama and Qatar tied 3-3 earlier in a frenetic match.

The first minutes were quiet, without many chances for any of the teams. However, Honduras found the net first thanks to the high pressure. Grenade’s goalkeeper received the ball, but Jerry Bengston was near him and didn’t hesitate to after it.

However, the Spice Boys will be looking for their first win against Los Catrachos this time. In their first meeting in the Gold Cup, Grenada was trashed 4-0 by Honduras with goals from Walter Martínez, Roger Espinoza, Melvin Valladares and Carlo Costly in 2009.

Their second encounter came in 2011. Honduras won 7-1, and until now, it’s still their largest win in the tournament. That day, Carlo Costly scored a hat-trick and Jerry Bengston also made a brace. Of course, Grenada will try to avoid another result like that.
