Times are changing and Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are no longer the most expensive players on the transfer market. It’s not due to talent but rather with age. The transfer market is a young man’s game, and these players are unquestionably the best at their positions.

According to Transfermarkt the following XI are the most expensive players at their positions based on age and market value. There are some glaring omissions such as Erling Haaland, Thiago Alcantara, and Bruno Fernandes.
