One of the most iconic figures in mixed martial arts history is gearing up for a comeback. Conor McGregor has officially started the process of reentering the UFC, and true to form, the Irishman didn’t wait long to fire a warning shot.
McGregor revealed in a recent interview with The Schmo that he’s now back in the UFC’s anti-doping program—his first official step toward making a return to the cage.
“They’re testing me. I’m in the pool. I thought that’s what the pools were for, jumping in and out, but I’m back in the pool,” McGregor said, confirming his return to the USADA pool.
With fans eager to know what’s next for the former featherweight and lightweight champion, McGregor delivered a strong message: “Get ready and stay ready because damage will be done”.
McGregor’s comeback could take place on one of the biggest stages in UFC history. “Oval office. White House card,” the Irish star hinted, suggesting his return might be scheduled for a major Independence Day event on July 4, 2026.

McGregor’s long road back
McGregor’s last UFC appearance came at UFC 264 in July 2021, where he suffered a gruesome leg injury in the trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier. He was also scheduled to fight at UFC 303, but a broken toe forced him to withdraw just weeks before the event. Since then, McGregor’s future in MMA has remained uncertain, with speculation swirling and fans awaiting a definitive update—until now.
Another legend could join the card
McGregor might not be the only UFC legend returning for the historic White House event. Recently retired heavyweight champion Jon Jones has also hinted at making a comeback on the same card.
“I think it’s exciting. Very exciting. I can’t promise anything, but I have a strong feeling I’ll be at that event,” Bones said, further fueling anticipation for what could become one of the most star-studded UFC nights in history.
