<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/luis-enrique">Luis Enrique</a> criticized Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona for playing “long balls” in a new documentary that follows his first season as PSG coach, during which they defeated the Catalans in the Champions League.



“Barça aren’t guaranteed to [dominate games], they haven’t in two seasons with Xavi,“ the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/psg">PSG</a> coach said in the documentary titled ‘No tenéis ni p–a idea (You have no f—–g idea)’, which will be aired by Movistar+ in Spain next Monday, per ESPN.



“It’s a lie to say Barça were better, that’s completely false,” he said, after his team lost the first leg of the quarterfinals tie 2-3 in Parc des Prince. “They played long balls. [Goalkeeper Marc-André] ter Stegen broke the record for long passes — I think it was 24. They play like Eibar. It was all long balls. Call it the third man if you’re a fan of Xaxi.”



He also criticized their defense: “They aren’t a dominant team and they are not a good team defensively, either. They defend with bodies but they don’t have quality in defense.” After losing the first leg, PSG came back with a 4-1 win in the second leg at the Olympic Stadium in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/barcelona">Barcelona.</a>

The documentary also shows how the Spanish coach motivated Kylian Mbappe in an one-on-one talk. “You have to be a leader. You have to help us. Defend like a son of a b—h, lead by example, press… and we will be a f—–g machine,” he told him. While PSG was able to win the tie, they eventually were eliminated by Borussia Dortmund in the semifinal.



<h2>Luis Enrique said that Barcelona wanted him back</h2>



Luis Enrique also revealed that Barcelona, where he guided the team to a Treble in the 2014-15 season and claimed nine trophies over his three-year stint, contacted him regarding a potential comeback during the 2022-23 campaign.

With his head looking down, with the captain’s armband off and no caption, his post was deemed somewhat cryptic and gave plenty to talk about on social media. Paris Saint-Germain won 2-0, but that was kind of overshadowed by this situation.

Let’s keep in mind his future at the club looks uncertain. Mbappe, who reportedly decided not to trigger a player option for next season, runs out of contract in July. Word on the street is he will join <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/real-madrid">Real Madrid</a> as a free agent, though there’s no official confirmation yet.

“It’s the same music every single week, the same music… it’s so boring. I am the coach, I make the decisions every day, every week,” Enrique told Prime Video Sport. “I am going to do the same until my last day in Paris. I always try to find the best solution for my team. Even if you don’t (understand it), I don’t care. I don’t care at all”.



The Spanish coach had already explained a few weeks ago he was giving more playing time to other players so that the team could be prepared to play without Mbappe. That was taken by many as a sign that the striker is on the way out, but the manager is not ready to confirm that.



“I keep my hope about Mbappé staying at PSG. He hasn’t announced anything yet… he can change his mind, no? Imagine if we win four titles and Mbappé decides to stay at PSG… why not?,” Enrique said.

The Spaniard preferred to expand on why he feels like this, but he still made it clear that no hat-trick will prevent him from scolding Mbappe. Of course, it’s quite surprising that Enrique makes this kind of remark when the striker just helped the team claim a comfortable win, which also makes PSG top of the league.



The manager had no intention of making a big deal out of this, yet his mere sign of unhappiness with Mbappe already creates some sort of tension. But of course, he stressed that whatever is going on will be resolved in private. In the meantime, PSG fans should try and enjoy this triumph.

While Mbappe’s three goals gave PSG the win on Saturday, fans weren’t exactly pleased with the way he played throughout the game. Many users on X (Twitter) agree with Enrique, with some of them claiming that the 24-year-old needs to show more committment.

Gianluigi Donnarumma drew a lot of praise for his performance, since his saves prevented Reims from tying the match when PSG were leading just by one goal. But even when the Parisians extended their lead, the Italian keeper continued to make notable saves.

With their recent victory, Paris Saint-Germain lead the Ligue 1 standings with 27 points in 12 games (W8 D3 L1). Nice are just one point below them in second place, while Monaco are third with 23 points.



The latter will be their next opponents when the international break is over. PSG will return to action on Friday, November 24, when they welcome Monaco to Parc des Princes on Matchday 13 of the French league.
