Jake Paul is ready to return to the ring after a long absence. However, the YouTuber has received bad news from his upcoming opponent, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., ahead of their bout.
In just over a month, Jake Paul is set to face what could be the toughest challenge of his boxing career so far. He will go up against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., a former world champion who surely doesn’t want to lose to a fighter with such a short professional resume.
Chavez Jr. may no longer be in the prime shape he once was, but as a former champion, he represents the most formidable opponent Paul has faced to date—one that could be pivotal for his boxing future.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. delivers concerning update ahead of Jake Paul fight
Jake Paul is determined to earn respect as a serious boxer. However, his most recent fight didn’t do much to quiet the critics who question his legitimacy.
Last November, Paul stepped into the ring with Mike Tyson. At the time, Tyson was 31 years older than Paul and clearly not in fighting condition. The YouTuber won by unanimous decision, but many questioned the value of that victory.
Now, Paul has turned his attention to Chavez Jr., a former world champion who, at 39 years old, is still 11 years his senior—but expected to be a far more dangerous opponent than Tyson was.
However, things may not go as Paul expects. Despite being younger than Tyson, Chavez Jr. has now admitted that his physical condition might not be ideal for a full 10-round fight.
“You know, I’m worried about my condition and being 100% at the fight,” Chavez Jr. told TMZ Sports. “Of course I know that he’s a fighter, he’s big, so I want to prepare myself to be the best this June 28, that’s it.”
Who will Jake Paul fight after Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.?
While this upcoming bout is expected to be one of Jake Paul’s toughest challenges yet, he is reportedly planning to step into the ring again before the end of the year. However, his next opponent remains uncertain.
According to reports, Tommy Fury or Gervonta Davis could be potential challengers. Still, the outcome of Paul’s fight against Chavez Jr. may ultimately determine the direction of his boxing career.
