Paul’s desire to face Canelo is well known. His approach has been aggressive, repeatedly criticizing the champion, but so far, it hasn’t earned him the fight he wants.
This time, Paul took aim at Canelo’s recent fight against William Scull. He mocked the bout for producing just 275 total punches between both fighters—the lowest ever recorded in a 12-round match.
“Come on, I threw more punches against Mike Tyson in eight two-minute rounds than he did in a 12-round fight,” he said for FightHub TV, referring to his recent match against Tyson, during which he threw 278 punches, per official stats.

However, Paul’s attempt to ridicule Canelo didn’t land as intended. While he pointed out that he threw more punches in his bout against Mike Tyson, fans were quick to call out the irony—given that the Tyson fight was widely seen as a mismatch. The 58-year-old legend was clearly not in proper condition, and many viewed the bout as little more than a glorified sparring session for Paul.
