To say that the Philadelphia 76ers went through hell this season would be a massive understatement. Everything that could’ve gone wrong for them went wrong.

Now, just months after signing Paul George and being a potential NBA championship contender, they will likely have one of the first five selections in the draft.

Considering that, Derek Parker of Sports Illustrated stated that, of all the potential players they could get with that pick, they had to circle in on Rutgers star forward Ace Bailey.

Ace Bailey could lead the Sixers back to contention

“The Sixers have a higher chance of landing a top-three pick than everyone thought coming into the season. And Bailey would fit like an essential glove in their core. The team has play-makers in Embiid, Maxey and even last year’s rookie in Jared McCain, so Bailey would be fire up plenty of shots off-ball,” Parker wrote. “Even more, Philadelphia signed on George in the offseason for essentially that exact role, so Bailey would be able to learn on the wing from a longtime great.”

Rutgers’ Ace Bailey

Of course, this will all depend on the NBA Draft lottery and the team’s evaluation of Paul George’s future with the team. But, on paper at least, he should be a no-brainer pick.

The Sixers need to think about the future, and with all the injury concerns surrounding George and Joel Embiid, it would be wise of them to consider taking Bailey if they have the opportunity to do so.
