Kerkering’s rise: A strong case for the closer role

Kerkering has been one of the most impressive performers in the Phillies’ bullpen this season. Despite a rough start in April with a 6.52 ERA and three blown saves in 9.2 innings, Kerkering has turned things around dramatically since May. In 17 innings since May 1st, Kerkering has posted a 0.53 ERA, striking out 15 batters while allowing just 10 walks. His ERA for the season currently sits at an impressive 2.54.
