Heat star Tyler Herro shares surprising confession on impact of Jimmy Butler’s departure

The Miami Heat have struggled to make an impact this postseason. Andrew Wiggins has also failed to deliver for the team. Because of this, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro have taken on the responsibility of leading the group. However, the results have not met expectations. After the latest setback, Herro spoke about the impact of Jimmy Butler’s departure on the team.

“Obviously, I know I need Jimmy to win. If we had Jimmy right now, I feel like it’d be a completely different situation. We probably wouldn’t even be the 8th seed,” stated Tyler Herro as reported by Jared Weiss.  Butler has long been a cornerstone for the Miami Heat, playing a critical role on both ends of the floor. His leadership has consistently driven the team’s success in the postseason, anchoring the defense and carrying the offense when it matters most.

Erik Spoelstra had to change his entire scheme midway through the season. This change clearly disrupted the team’s rhythm. As a result, Miami never managed to regain the consistency that once defined them. Despite the team’s struggles, Tyler Herro has delivered the best first phase of the playoffs in his career. He is averaging 22.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.

Tyler Herro delivered the performance the team expected. He took a clear step forward and showed strong leadership on the court. However, the roster still needs to become more competitive to support his efforts. The current depth is not enough to maximize his impact. Besides, some players need to step up such as Andrew Wiggins. He must significantly improve his performance next season as he will have a full offseason to prepare and adapt to Erik Spoelstra’s system.

With better conditioning and understanding of the scheme, Wiggins should play a larger role. Meanwhile, the franchise will likely pursue reinforcements during the offseason. Jimmy Butler’s departure created a major gap in the lineup. To stay competitive, the team must fill that void with quality additions.

Andrew Wiggins opens up on Heat’s postseason goals ahead of crucial playoff run

The Miami Heat are down 0–3 in their series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, they still have a chance to reach the semifinals of the playoffs. To do so, they must win all the remaining games. It will not be easy, as the Cavaliers have shown great consistency throughout the NBA season.

With this in mind, Andrew Wiggins was asked about the team’s mindset heading into the remaining games. His response was clear and determined:  “You fight to the end. Especially here [with the Heat], they fight to the end. As long as there is another game, there’s a chance. We believe in ourselves in what we can do, and we just got to win one game. Take it from there, and the rest will take care of itself. We just got to focus on that one game.”
