During the NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Celtics, Doncic expressed high regard for Holiday, acknowledging him as one of the toughest defenders he has faced in the league.

“Jrue is one of the best, if not the best guard defender for me. I think he doesn’t get a lot of praise for how he can guard. So for me, it’s really tough to go against him… I’m surprised he’s never won the Defensive Player of the Year or something,” Doncic remarked back in 2024 about Holiday.
