TheGolden State Warriors entered this NBA season with high hopes and expectations. Stephen Curry was back at full strength and they hoped to have Klay Thompson running and gunning. Sadly, that wasn’t the case.
Thompson’s injury took a massive toll on the team’s chance to compete at the highest level. And even though they flirted with a playoff spot until the very last day of the regular season, eventually, they fell short.
That’s why they’re expected to be in the running for multiple stars this summer, and according to a report by Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle, they could make a run at Kevin Love if he’s bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
NBA Rumors: Warriors Could Sign Kevin Love If He’s Bought Out
“The Warriors have been flirting with the idea of adding Kevin Love to their roster for years, and that courting might turn into a full-court press this month. There is growing sentiment around the league that Love will negotiate a buyout with Cleveland and sign a veteran-minimum contract with a contender, with one of the options being the Warriors,” read the report.
While Love is no longer the player he was in Minnesota or during his first couple of years at Cleveland, he’s still a versatile big with championship experience that looks tailor-made for their free-flow offense and run-and-gun kind of style.
Adding Love to a core of Curry and Thompson plus Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green would instantly make them championship contenders again, especially if they package James Wiseman and one of their first-round picks to land another star.
Love will showcase his skills at the Olympics with Team USA after a long layoff with multiple injuries, so we expect multiple teams to keep tabs on him and his status ahead of next season, including the Warriors.
